Discover our journey, our roots, and the values that have shaped Njabini Farmers Cooperative Society since 1965
Njabini Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd. is located in the productive agricultural belt east of the Aberdares, within Njabini Township, South Kinangop Sub‑County, Nyandarua County. Founded in 1965, the cooperative was established to collect, bulk, and market farmers’ produce including milk, pyrethrum, and wool.
In its early years, the cooperative delivered 5,000 liters of milk daily to KCCC and provided subsidized ploughing services. The society acquired three plots, two of which remain developed.
The cooperative faced challenges in the 1990s due to market liberalization, leading to temporary collapse. However, in 2012, with support from KAPAP, members revived the society through community mobilization, farmer education, participatory planning, and collective marketing.
By 2016, the cooperative had generated Ksh 2,479,656 in cumulative wealth from 733 active farmers.
Today, Njabini FCS is fully farmer‑owned, with 1,500 members (480 active) and a nine‑member board elected annually.
